See yourself as everything you ever wanted to be

See yourself as everything you ever wanted to be

Anonymous asked: If seeing is believing then what is hope in your opinion? You speak greatly of a contrast between the light around and darkness that if we choose will permeate us. Do you prefer documenting the beauty in our outside material (people) world or exposing the destruction of darkness (like your run down buildings).

I am not sure that I fully understand your question(s) but I will try to answer them in order.

1. Hope is neither seeing nor believing. Hope is an expectation of a future event. It is usually infers a positive outcome.

2. Lightness and darkness are not necessarily choices but are are two ends of one spectrum. They represent opposites although according to Jean-Pierre Faye they are more similar than they are different and according to Heraclitus their existent is dependent upon each other. I am interested in light & dark as they apply to photos as well as in the physical/spiritual world.

3. I find beauty to be everywhere. In decay, in nature, in people. There is beauty in seeing something that you have never seen before. In building something up and in breaking something down.

Much of my work is a look into where the lines blur between what is considered complete and what is considered broken. The fine line that separates light from dark and beauty from destruction. My favorite subject is someone that I find beautiful in the chaos of what most think of as ugly.
